At Frey Electric, responsiveness, quality work & local talent sets the bar
Buffalo News: Prospectus 2024 Sponsor Spotlight – February 25, 2024
Chances are, every Western NewYorker has visited or driven by a facility or venue powered by Frey Electric.
The company installed the electrical systems at the AKG Art Museum, Highmark Stadium, the Peace Bridge, the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and the new Buffalo Convention Center facade, to name a few. And as a partner of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, Frey Electric was the electrical contractor that built the original Marine Midland Arena (now KeyBank Center).
“As one of the largest specialty contractors in Western New York, clients trust us because of our reputation and our full spectrum of services and knowledge,” says Jim Waddell, marketing communications manager for Frey Electric.
Founded in 1945, the third-generation company provides a full spectrum of services in the electrical and communications fields, including electrical design, installation and lifetime maintenance.
Felix L. Melendez, Jr., maintenance supervisor at API Heat Transfer in Cheektowaga, relies on Frey Electric to maintain the company’s electrical system and help ensure the company’s vital machinery operates effectively.
“I did 21 years in the Marine Corps, so I expect nothing but the best,” Melendez says. “These guys give me the best every time. I don’t have to go anywhere else.”
Melendez says he believes there are three key attributes that set Frey Electric apart: the company’s personable employees, their responsiveness and the quality of work.
“The quality is phenomenal. I never have to question them on anything. I’ve never had them come back for anything,” he says. “It’s kind of like a fire-and-forget weapon. I just say, ‘Hey, this is that target. Get it done.’ And they get it done.”
Melendez also points to the competitive pricing Frey offers, describing its quotes as “always spot on.”
The 24/7 service and quick response times are points of pride for Frey Electric and a result of a dedicated, local workforce, says Waddell.
“We hire locally, people who care about the community, and they want the community to grow,” he says. “Our tagline is, ‘Design It. Build It. Guarantee It.’ We work from the beginning of a project to the end, and well after the project’s completion – and that’s important to us.”
In addition to its recognizable projects throughout the area, Frey Electric’s community involvement may also be visible to many Western New Yorkers.
The company sponsors the annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, a variety of law enforcement agencies and hospital foundations, and supports organizations like chambers of commerce, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and Invest Buffalo Niagara to help local businesses thrive.
“We believe that the City of Good Neighbors is made even better when businesses like ours give back and support the people and causes that make Western New York such a great place,” says Waddell.
